Location: Hackettstown, NJ
Salary: $160,000 - $200,000 + Substantial Bonus

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Field Engineering to join our growing engineering team in Hackettstown, NJ. This critical leadership role will manage engineering operations, oversee multiple projects, lead talented engineering teams, and support strategic business growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in electrical engineering, project management, and team development.

Responsibilities:

Direct and oversee all engineering activities across local and remote teams.


Manage bid preparation processes, ensuring strict quality assurance and control standards.


Monitor and maintain project timelines and budgets effectively.


Provide leadership and guidance to multiple engineering project teams simultaneously.


Engage directly with engineering staff and foster strong customer relationships.


Develop new business opportunities and maintain excellent relationships with current clients.


Oversee recruitment efforts to build a high-performing engineering team.


Mentor, support, and guide team members to foster professional growth.


Establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring accountability for project delivery and billability.


Collaborate closely with senior leadership to meet profitability goals, identify resource needs, and pursue strategic business development opportunities.


Identify and facilitate training and professional development opportunities for staff.


Maintain hands-on involvement through direct project oversight and ensure adherence to quality standards.



Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; specialization in Power Systems preferred.


A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience within the electrical power industry, with field/hands-on experience highly valued.


At least 3 years of leadership experience managing multiple direct reports.



Technical Skills:

Experience with generator paralleling controls, especially Woodward DLSC/MSLC systems.


Knowledge and experience designing power control strategies for Tier 3 & 4 data centers.


Familiarity with SCADA systems and understanding of technical specifications.


Proficient in industrial networking (LANs, routers, bridges, switches).


Ability to interpret electrical/electronic schematics and interconnection diagrams.


PLC/HMI programming expertise, particularly Siemens S7 and Emerson systems.


Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and project management software.



Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel to field locations for system startups, troubleshooting, and supporting remote teams.


Participation in industry tradeshows and professional conferences.
